Paul Carrack has presided over some of the finest moments in modern rock music, from the opening classic soft rock anthem How Long (with Ace) and Squeeze’s superb Steve Winwood-esque lollop of Tempted, to the likes of Mike & The Mechanics’ AOR standards, such as the ethereal Silent Running.
Less well known, but equally laudable, are new solo efforts. Dedicated is suitably snappy, BB King pitches in on the brassy Bring It On Home and there’s funk aplenty on It Ain’t Over and others. Not every tune scales such heights, but all the M&M numbers retain the high standard. A fine introduction to the lot of this particular PC.
